Pop Open Cards are interactive Bible verse cards created to encourage people, start meaningful conversations, and make sharing Scripture simple.
Each small card features beautiful artwork on the outside. Give it a gentle bend, pop it open, and a surprise Bible verse and word of encouragement are waiting inside.
You don't know which verse you'll receive until you open it.
That's part of what makes Pop Open Cards special.
Whether you're handing one to a friend, leaving one for a stranger, encouraging someone at church, visiting a hospital, building care packages, or simply keeping a few in your pocket, our hope is that these little cards help people encounter God's Word in an unexpected way.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple:
To share God's promises in a creative, approachable and meaningful way.
We believe something small can still carry a lot of hope.
As Isaiah 55:11 reminds us, God's Word does not return empty. A few words of Scripture, shared at the right moment, can encourage someone more than we may ever know.
What Are Pop Open Cards?
Pop Open Cards measure approximately 2.75 inches wide by 2 inches tall, making them small enough to carry in a pocket, purse, Bible, backpack or ministry bag.
Each card has:
Beautiful artwork on the outside.
Depending on the edition, you'll find nature, wildlife, flowers, ministry imagery, seasonal artwork and other encouraging designs.
A surprise Bible verse inside.
Gently bend the card and it pops open to reveal Scripture along with a short word of encouragement.
Dozens of different designs and messages.
Many editions contain up to 144 different cards, so opening one always carries an element of surprise.
We've sometimes described the experience like opening a fortune cookie—except instead of a fortune, you discover a verse from the Bible.
You don't choose the verse.
You simply choose to share the card.
And we've heard many stories of someone opening one and saying:
“That's exactly what I needed today.”
Why the Surprise Matters
There is something special about not knowing which verse is inside.
Rather than choosing a message specifically for someone, you can simply offer a card and allow them to discover it for themselves.
That little moment of curiosity often creates an easy opportunity for encouragement, conversation, prayer or connection.
You don't need a perfect speech.
You don't need to have all the answers.
Sometimes you can simply hand someone a Pop Open Card and say:
“This is for you.”
From Promise Cards to Pop Open Cards
The story behind Pop Open Cards began long before our name existed.
In Southern Oregon, Pastor Chad McComas started Set Free Christian Fellowship with a heart to serve people who felt lost, broken, lonely or overlooked.
One of the simple tools that became part of that ministry was a small product known as Promise Cards.
Promise Cards were originally created by Dave Yancey through his company WordBytes beginning in the 1980s. What started as a small family operation eventually grew, and millions of cards were distributed.
At Set Free Christian Fellowship, the cards became a simple but powerful way to encourage people throughout the Rogue Valley. Thousands were shared in the community over the years.
When Promise Cards were no longer being produced, the idea never disappeared.
The church continued dreaming about how something so small could continue helping people encounter Scripture in an unexpected way.
Eventually, a new version was created.
Pop Open Cards was born.
Today, we continue that idea with new artwork, new editions and hundreds of Bible verses and messages of encouragement—all centered around the same simple experience:
Carry a little hope with you. Give it away when someone needs it.

Today, Pop Open Cards are available in several different collections, including the Promise Edition, Ministry Edition, Nature Edition, Floral Edition, Winter Edition, Kids Edition and Spanish Edition.
Each edition has its own artwork and personality while keeping the same Pop Open experience: beautiful artwork outside and surprise Scripture inside.

Why We Make Them
People aren't projects.
We don't believe encouragement needs to feel forced or complicated.
Sometimes it looks like listening.
Sometimes it looks like praying with someone.
Sometimes it means buying someone lunch.
And sometimes it's as simple as handing them a tiny card with Scripture inside.
Pop Open Cards are simply one tool for doing that.
Our hope is that they help make encouragement easier, make Scripture more approachable, and remind people that hope can show up in surprisingly small ways.
Statement of Faith
At Pop Open Cards, our Christian faith is at the heart of everything we create.
We believe in one true God, the eternal King, Creator, and Redeemer of all things. He is holy, just, loving, and truthful. God has revealed Himself as one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the trustworthy foundation for faith and life. It is our authority for what we believe and how we seek to live.
We believe that every person is created in the image of God, with great worth and dignity, and was made to know and enjoy Him. We also believe that sin has separated humanity from God and has brought brokenness, suffering, and death into the world.
We believe that salvation and reconciliation with God are made possible only through Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made a way for us to be forgiven, restored, and brought into right relationship with God. By repenting of sin, believing in Jesus, and receiving Him as Savior and Lord, we are welcomed into God’s family.
We believe the Holy Spirit is active in the lives of believers. He convicts us of sin, leads us to Christ, renews us, helps us grow in holiness, and empowers us to live for God.
We believe that through the redeeming work of Jesus, there is freedom from sin and from the power of the enemy. In Christ, we find truth, hope, healing, and new life.
We believe the Church is made up of all who place their faith in Jesus Christ. The Church exists to worship God, make disciples, love people, carry on the ministry of Jesus, and advance His kingdom in the world. We also believe Jesus gave the Church baptism and communion as important practices of faith.
We believe in the visible return of Jesus Christ and in the blessed hope of His coming kingdom. We believe heaven and hell are real, and we believe in the resurrection of the saved to everlasting life with God.
Everything we create at Pop Open Cards flows from this hope. Our desire is to point people to Jesus and to share the hope, truth, encouragement, and promises found in God’s Word.
